I don't know about anyone else, but I sort of think that you should shoot the same type/brand arrows for both practice and hunting. I'll go with changing from practice tips for practice, to well tuned broadheads for hunting, but I just can't see shooting something completely different for each.

Now that I've said that, I have to ask, does anyone use a practice tip (let's include your threaded insert) that is EXACTLY the same size as the arrow shaft? I know the Carbon Impact insert is probably ...

I'm going to get a new sight real soon. I currently have a single pin and have been shooting it for the last 3 years. I'm thinking about going back to a 3 or 4 pin sight. What do you guys use and why?

Just want to see how many people shoot a wrist release to a thumb release. For some reason I prefer my thumb release when I hunt. I like to hook it up to my loop and not worry about having to hurry up and get it attached when it's time to draw on an animal. My release of choice is the Jimi T, A very smooth and reliable release.

Just had to re-align my site after a minor equipment malfunction. I shoot 3 at a time to get a grouping (to start), and then adjust. It took me 3 groups (9 shots) to get it close.

Then I shoot 3 groups and adjust to try to get it "right there". It took me 3 sets (of 3 groups) to get it to where it is now (about 1/2" high, but correct right to left, on average). I'll live with it there for a few days and then see if I need to tweak it further.

So, I'm saying that it takes ...

I love to practice past 50 plus yards, just to keep the mechanics fine tuned at longer ranges. So I grabbed my LimbSaver SpeedZone, Ranged my target at 50 yards. I let the first arrow fly true, it hit smack dead in the bullseye. Than I grabbed my 2nd arrow and let it fly, than I heard the unmistakable noise of 2 arrows hitting each other. Well as you can see by the picture as to what happened. Dialed in and ready to rock!

Just curious as to how many of you use a level on your sights? I never used to use one but have gotten in the habit of using it the last few years. It's become a habit of mine to check the level before lining up the pins. I think its helped in my groups as well. Anyways, I got my bow out this weekend to do a little practicing and found that my level off my site is gone (damn colorado mountains!!!). I was pretty ticked and didn't shoot so hot, but it may have just been because I was flustered ...

Has anyone here ever used any type of shrink fletch vanes? I always figured they were sort of hoaky and wouldn't be as good as vanes put on with a jig by a pro. I had to throw a couple on some arrows in a pinch last season on a trip however and as i have been tuning up and patterning my current batch of arrows those two shoot as well if not better than the rest. I'm wondering if i got lucky or if anyone thinks they are good? I think i'm gonna do up a half dozen more and see how they shoot.....

So I went and fletched up some arrows that give me my IBO numbers of 350 grains and shot it thru the chronograph and man did my bow smoke them and there wasn't a big difference in sound compared to my heavy hunting arrow of 460 grains. Well I added a pic to show you the speed I generated

How many of you practice at longer distances than you would take a hunting shot. I practice all the time at distances out to 80 plus yards. At the longer distances you must have everything in tune, Bow and your shooting form. The more you practice at longer distances the more accurate you will be at the shorter shots. It's always a blast to have a few friends over to have a little competition.

Just want to know what you prefer. I love my mechanicals. When they first came out years ago I was a sceptic on using them. They looked real cheap like from the local dollar store. Now the designs have jumped from leaps to HUGE bounds. I have used fixed blades as well, I could even tune them to fly very well at longer yards. Just my choice on using the Mechanicals.
