My boy is wanting a new rifle for Christmas. He has come down to wanting a 17 or a new 22lr. I had a 17 and didnt like it because unless you took only head shots it just wouldnt put grown yotes or cats down in there trax. My question is this. Does anyone know of a heavier bullet load for the 17 than the tiny little 17 grain that is common wherever i look.

Just finished putting together 50 rounds of 40 cal pistol ammo to test fire soon. First time I get a lot of time I'm going to load up all my 270 and 308 brass. If this load for the 40 works well I'll put another 900 of them together. If not I'll keep working till I find the performance I like then load them all up.

Just found out recently that in eastern Texas counties, we now have muzzleloader season that runs from Jan. 4th - 17th. So we get an additional 2 weeks to hunt.
Recently, I picked up this H&R 935 Ultra slug hunter for my wife Lisa. It's chambered in 3'' 20ga with a heavy bull barrel. We took it to the range yesterday to tune it in with the Redhead Elite 3.5x10 scope we added to the package. Let me tell you this........... The 2 3/4'' Remington Core lock sabots dialed right in at 100 yds, putting five 260 grain slugs in the same hole!

The ballistics at 200 yards are unbelievable. The small bullet only drops 6.2 inches and still has 1080 ...
