I think deep down in my heart that this place we sometimes call our 2nd home has Really taken on what I had intended it would be a 2nd family. We have so many people in here who have shared the good and the bad so far this year with their hunting season. Sharing the hunting stories about their kids hitting the woods and sharing all the pics. I have made so many cyber friends in here it's crazy. I am even planning on doing a mid ...

Talked to a buddy that lives up in Pike County Missouri and a guy shot a 226" typical 20 pointer. He said he seen the deer and it's just amazing. He said the whole things fishy as the deer stunk really bad and they are thinking he actually found the deer but he's claiming he shot it. I will try to get some pics of this hog. He also said 2 years ago there was a 200" killed off the farm next to this farm. I'll keep everyone posted.

You can tell when they are driving, you will hear anywhere from 10-20 shots !! Those guys must have had either one bear going up and down the drive line, running by each stander or had more than one bear on the run. I have NEVER heard that much shooting going on in the Union,Centre and Clinton county area. I heard more shooting ...

Is it your first animal taken with a bow or gun or is a trophy you already have hanging up on the wall.
We made it back from the " flat 500" speedway, as Vic, the local flatlander transplant would say !!

We covered a ton of land, found a few new spots that most guys, even the locals wouldn't venture too. Too far back in and I hear they are scared to be on top and back in when its dark !! Seriously though, that freak early snowstorm did all kinds of damage ! I had tree tops falling everywhere, spent as much time looking up as I did looking around. We both saw bear but nothing close ...

I didn't move off the couch until 11:30 !! We were supposed to leave around 3:30 today but after lastnight, well I didn't pack a single thing ! Luckily I won't be needing much, just the basic stuff but it will be dark before we hit Cameron County.
Well guys and gals Ole XT went out into the Big Thicket this weekend and it wasnt uneventful. The deer were begining the rut action. crapes were fresh and the bucks were on the move. Saturday I took a doe for management and then shot a nice buck. I would guess him in the upper 120's to lower 130's. He ran into a swampy marsh area and went deep. I tracked him till the water came over my hip waders. I backed out and went to the other side and found no signs he came out. I guess i will have to ...

Here's my thing-

We are allowed two bucks , yes I am thrill with Splitbrow's, but I do have one other very special buck I would love to outwit this season

( well a few really) but this is my other dream buck Short brow's

He will not out score Splitbrows, and maybe this question should go more to landowner's that do QDM, but I would like to hear - Do any of you think it is wrong to take a lesser scoring buck then your first buck ...

I have hunted Indiana enough before and after the rule change to see some benifits although I think some of the credit has to go to the popularity of QDM practices. The overall age and size of the buck population seems older and bigger in our part of the woods. That's not to say there aren't still a lot of young bucks shot, it just seems you have a chance at ...
