Bud showed up late this AM and we managed to get setup by 7:15, there were ALOT more birds flying through then I expected (300+) but I don't think they were all using the field. Wind switched abit and I didn't get up and change the spread right away when I should have with almost every flock interested but not totally commiting, after ...

Made it out on the River again and managed to put 5 in the boat, things started off slow untill the last 15 mins of shooting time. Dropped 4 birds from the boat and while doing a retrieve they started comming in and managed 1 more, locked up but they were flaring because my bud was standing in the middle of the deke's and there was nothing we could do.

Scrambled around the house trying to get things together and not forget anything, but of course I did. Gun licence and reg. card!

Pulled the boat out of the garage and put my 11 floaters in and around the corner I went to the launch, was set up and in the blind by 7:12 and loaded up. 20 mins went by and the first single showed it's self. BOOM BOOM and my first bird of the season was down, a short time ...

Before I caught the whitetail bug.( a few years ago) I was realy in to waterfowl hunting on Lake St Clair. The boat in the picture was a 20'' steel commercial fishing boat which I bought from an Indian in Mitchels Bay. I welded a 3/8 Ree-rod frame and sewed a cordura blind to it. Making it seaworthy in 6-8 foot seas. The boat acounted for over a thousand birds over a ten tear period.

I love this picture of it.

As big of an outdoorsman as I claim myself to be, one type of hunting (among many) I've never tried is goose hunting. What's funny is I'm smack dab in the middle of some of the best goosehunting lands in all of the southern states. Katy, Texas and it's surrounding towns is well known for its goose hunting. There's an outfitter here by the name of Larry Gore that's very well known around Texas that has a jam up outfitter's service. I work with a few guys that are goose chasing nuts and I hear ...
