1st turkey with the bow !!
What a day this turned out to be !! As soon as Cody got home from school we headed over across the creek to trim some lanes in front of the stand. Then when we got back to the house Tina comes out and says the turkeys are back and they are behind the house !! Now the fun part !! Grab the kids and try to get them a bird . We headed out in our not quite for hunting clothes. I do have my camo shirt on, Cody has no camo on and Kasey, well she is in her cheerleading outfit !! Yes thats right, she had a game and she was all ready to go to it. The birds started for the foodplot, so we sneek down to it. No birds ?? We walk back up to the fencerow and they are going thru it heading for the corn. I tried to call them closer but no luck. We went after them. We did get to within 30 yards of them but they were on one side of the corn and we had no shot. As we headed up about halfway past the corn the birds turn and start back towards the house. We were stuck in that spot. Well as the birds went away from us the kids had no shot because they were now at 50 yards. My turn. We only had another 5 minutes before Kasey had to leave. So after I put the rangefinder on them, right at 50 yards, I let the bow sing. That Innerloc Carbon Tuner did the job, slicing the birds neck !! I then had Cody and Kasey head back towards the house hoping the birds would try and cut thru the fencerow. Well they didn't see it but the birds were within 25 yards of them, in the thick stuff. As they got closer the birds took off flying over the garage and into the woods. Maybe friday for the kids. Here is my big hen, just under 18 pounds !! But still my 1st turkey with the bow !!

Great story Rick! Kasey must really be a hunter at heart to be out there in her cheerleading outfit!
Hope those turkeys stick around and you guys get a crack at a few more.

Re: 1st turkey with the bow !!
Thanks everybody !! Yes it was an adventure I will NEVER forget.
Now I do need to post this, I got some bad comments somewhere else, up for 3 minutes and I said " you all can kiss my white AMERICAN ass " and took it off. I don't think I need to worry about it over here but here it is anyway. YES it was a 50 yard shot that I would not have taken if my trusty Bushnell Rangefinder wasn't on my hip. I practice out to 60 yards BUT would not shoot at a deer that far, maybe not even 50 yards. This however was in fact a turkey, I don't think I need the K.E. on a bird like you do on a deer and my rangefinder said 50 !! I aimed for 50 and had an awesome flying arrow with an even better Innerloc Carbon Tuner leading the way !!! I am DONE getting my rearend kicked and will not add much to that site anymore !! Of course the comments I got were from new members that crawled out of thier hole and as far as I'm concerned they can crawl back into the hole they came from !!!
THANKS HARRY FOR THE BEST SITE IN THE COUNTRY !!!!

Hey Rick, Thanks for the very kind words about the site. If it is a quick clean kill and within the law, you will never get anything but a big Congrats over here. So now you need to get those kids on some birds.

I'm not quite sure why you were getting harassed... If you have a shot that you feel comfortable with... you are the one that knows your skill level... you shouldn't have to explain anything. When I read your post on the kill, the only thing that came to my mind was, Congrats!
