Ty's first crossbow buck

Post  Mex. Bowhunter on Tue Oct 01, 2013 10:36 pm

Well we had a good opening morning. We have seen this deer for the last three yrs on a small ranch in Fayette Co. By the house that I have set up for Ty to hunt. This deer is proof that you just never know what a deer can do from yr to yr. We seen him last opening weekend and it looked like he had been shot or something when he walked through. He had a very bad limp. I never could see any blood so we decide to give him a chance. Later in the season he walked in on us and I could tell for the first time that his leg was broke. Trying to decide rather to take him out or not he walked out of sight. We watched him on camera the rest of the yr and did not know if he would make it or not. He did shed his horn on camera and came to love the cottenseed feeder at Ty's stand. I did not run cameras much at home this yr but, a friend of mine showed me a picture of him next door at the end of velvet season and I could not believe that he had grown such a pretty even rack. He had put on at least 20in from last yr. Well Saturday morning we was in the stand and he came out around 8:20am. We watched him for about 30 min and Ty told me daddy I realy like that deer. These days I get caught up in managment so much sometime that I forget how fun it was when a buck was just a 10pt. I told Ty if he give us a good shot it is your call. Before we new it he fed into 30 yrds and gave him a perfect shot. He made a 30yrd hart shot and the deer went 40yrds. I am blessed with a family that loves to hunt and I get to see a lot of bucks every yr. This 1 I will never forget. Me and Ty scored him out tonight right at 140.

Congrats Buddy

Very nice buck, congrats to your son!  So is that a proud feeling or what dad?  Has to be as good or maybe better than the feeling of shooting your own great buck!
The mount looks very good !
