carp relocation

Post  soil on Sun Sep 28, 2014 9:24 am

the girls and i drove back to see how Poppy was doing shelling corn on friday after school.  theres a slough in the back that had all but dried up and had 5 carp in it.  Poppy decided that we should relocate them to the little pond closer to the house.   the pond was dug years ago for a livestock watering hole.  it doesn't have any fish in it.  just turtles and snakes.  so yesterday we grabbed them with a dip net and brought them in a tub of water to their new home.  the kids are enjoying watching them swim around in the little pond.

their new residence

when we got home friday from the carp adventure, this little guy was waiting for us in front of the garage.  the girls thought he was cute but that didn't stop them from dividing him into 7 pieces with my hatchet.

If you fish for catfish go back to that pond after a year or so and see if those carp spawned. They make great bait
