Two Biggest Local Bucks...

Post  MEhunter on Wed Jan 07, 2015 9:14 am

Saw photos of a few real nice deer from my home state this year. These two below took the cake for sure. For those of you that like big 8 point frames this first one ought to impress you. As usual not the best harvest photos from my neck of the woods, but they'll do! First deer dressed in the 250s

This gentleman is termanily ill with cancer, probably the last deer he will shoot. Dressed weight was in the 250s as well and he sure sported some excellent character...I also included a little part of a newspaper article I read on the deer.

"When they arrived at Smith’s General Store in Springfield, the crowd grew even larger.
“We were two hours there. We couldn’t get away,” Warren Curtis said. Then we went home and hung it up.”
And the people kept stopping by to see the monstrous deer.
“I’ve never had so much company in my life,” he said.
Warren Curtis said he’s had a pretty good deer-hunting career. Five years ago, while napping behind a bale of hay, he woke to see another large deer. That deer weighed 227 pounds.
Curtis said that deer was the talk of Hermon. This year’s buck has brought him a bit more notoriety, though.
“Standing right there [at the tagging station] one guy offered me $2,500 [for the antlers],” he said. “Another guy called me from California and offered me $5,000.”
Curtis refused both offers and said he didn’t even know there was a market for deer antlers … or that someone in California would hear about his deer via what he calls “the internetty.”
“I’m not really up on that stuff,” he said. “Meanwhile, I just keep trapping, the best I can.”

Cool pic of the big bladed buck one of my good buddy's killed. He dressed 232...

My buddy uses the same taxidermist as the gentleman who shot the big buck from above. Here is my buddy's buck and the big non typical from above in his truck when he was dropping his deer off.

I still say Maine has some the most bad ass bucks in the lower 48 !!! Huge bodies with major mass and as usual , trashy stuff going on !!! I also love the fact the old dude just had to turn down the offers for the antlers , I just wonder if he laughed when someone offered to buy his antlers !!!! Gotta love the old timers , and the internetty !!!! Priceless !!!

Awesome bucks Dave. I've always heard that New Brunswick had the biggest whitetails on earth. I guess a few of them must have gone state side.
