Mystery critter solved!

Post  Boss Gobbler on Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:38 am

Let me start by saying, I have never seen one of these, had no idea that they were here or got this big. Early this morning I set out to find some sheds. Right off the bat I see what I thought was a Bassett  hound running  towards  me.  This is what I saw, it was 4 1/2+ foot long and had to be 40 pounds at least. I included  a picture  of an otters track  after looking  it up. You can see it matches.

I kinda thought  they lived and spent all of their time around water. He was probably  300 yards from the pond and he had ran a good 40 acre circle during the snow.

I was wandering if there was any water source in the area, That is  a good size otter, looks to be about  the same size of  the one we had on our pond  a  few years  back, he was also traveling  a long distance back and  forth  to our south lease pond, If your pond is stocked, you better get him out of  the area Laughing

That is a really big looking otter!  See any slides near the water's edge?  It would be a good spot for a cam!
