Finished up my turkey season.

Post  Mountainman Vic on Tue May 19, 2015 8:30 pm

I went out tonight to try and roost a gobbler for tomorrow morning. Well I found two good long beards resting in a clover plot and I slipped into a thick patch where I could sit and watch them. After about 20 minutes they got up and started working their way to me. Before I knew it they were at 40 yards and I let the first one have it that gave me a shot. Turned out to be a better bird than I thought with a 9 1/2" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. It sure beats getting up at 2:45 tomorrow morning. Very Happy

Getting up at 2:30 , are you freaking nuts !! Congrats on getting it done !! I was planning on heading up to the cabin last weekend , BUT Tina wanted to do the deck over. Well after doing some checking , the deck came down except for 6 4x4 post , the rest is getting done this week in composite decking !! The boss rules over the hunting Very Happy Very Happy . Good thing is I still have time to hunt in the afternoons now. I do think I may know that spot by looking at those rocks by you . Have you ever hunted much behind the dam ? I found a bunch of turkeys while bear hunting between the dam and I think Montour road .

I've never hunted there. Too steep for me to want to chase turkeys on those side hills.

All the time Barb. The biggest bull I watched Friday night was growing his 4ths and looked to have about 16" to 18" brow tines.
