It happens man. Looks like you made a good shot, sometimes strange stuff happens though. Hopefully you either find him or he shows back up on camera to ease your mind. I would certainly check for buzzards for the next few days.

Well me and willy just pulled the video up on a 60 inch HD tv. So we can get good quality and see the shot better... We both now think that deer Is still alive. From the TV You can clearly see the shot was to high. Missing the spine and going in at a slight angle missing the lung and hitting shoulder. And the loud hit is probably where the shoulder broke. We have watched it 20 times.... I honestly now think that deer is still kickin..

Been there bud!  To me it didn't seem like it was too bad an angle...though it was hard to tell with all the leaves. I would of thought it buried into the far shoulder.  Was it a touch forward?

On our way to check trail cameras this morning. Going to sit in a spot this morning that has lots of bears, elk and whitetails (all seasons are open right now), so we will see how it goes, then headed out to check a dozen trail cams. I'll post an update if anything good shows up! Still focused on the one target buck we have so far, but gave him a break this week hoping he'll start coming in the daytime again.

I don't know what to think this year. I don't have any decent bucks on camera this summer and have only seen one young 8pt one time. Only promising thing is on the neighboring farm my brother saw 36 deer in the beans one evening and 12 were bucks with 4 nice shooters. Of course that was weeks ago but maybe one will relocate to my place. Bucks don't show up at the golf course until late October so wont know what to expect there for a while. Guess I'll just see how things play out. Unusual for me not to have at least 1 good buck on camera over the summer.

It's been slow around here. I haven't even been out since looking for David's deer the other weekend. Cameras are showing plenty of does moving in daylight but that's about it except for one little stoop that refuses to shed his velvet. I did get one night of pics from one of the three year olds the other night but that's been it as far as bucks go.

Both of the three year olds showed back up. Funny how in the summer low brows in the back kept the one up front ran off the mineral. This is the first time I've had them on camera together since they shed velvet and the one up front stayed there for well over an hour and never let low brows come up any closer.

The only thing still moving in daylight was the same old does that are always there every afternoon so I haven't been hunting much.

Haven't been out here since I shot bitty 2.. hoping he still is alive as I have been watching the place everyday and haven't seen any buzzards or coyotes since the shot. Waiting another week or 2 to see if I get really lucky and he shows up for at least one picture

Had one of my target bucks at 60 yards last night. I had been waiting for the wind to switch and the farmer to get his corn out, both happened on the same day. The buck followed his usual route and was walking right where I expected him to......then he did like mature deer do and made me look like an idiot. He went down what I would consider a cliff, a hill so steep you could touch it while walking up it. He circled down wind of me (immediately smelling me) instead of walking straight passed my camera on the way to the corn like he had done every other night this week. Anyone who tells me these animals don't have a sixth sense is a bold face liar..... Mad Mad Mad

Back to the drawing board.

darn your luck , John.
You   ever used   Tink's  all season  smoking stick's?  I love them for  cover scent,
Keep us posted maybe his will mess up  soon,

Got this  guy again on a new path we mowed throught the timber at my top ladder stand and ground  blind( they are only   20 yrds apart).

Hopefully,  either, Larry , Bob or  I can tag him this  year, He is by all means  favoring the  top right now and  moving in the daylight Wish I would  had a  camera on the  field up  there, would of been nice to know if he  was in that  field  during daylight ,    That  top  field is  my favorite place to hunt  so  of  course I will sit it on my first  hunt  next weekend, Smile

Getting  better every day,
Had  a young  8pt   running  doe's through the yard yesterday, and today Our  farming neighbor is  getting his  beans out,  I was just out at one of my north  ground blinds,   doing some repair work to it  with   Black  Gorrillia  tape, ( now that is  some  wicked tape  Laughing)  but  anyway had  a blast,  come out of the blind and a doe and  6 pt buck  were already out back there, They saw me before  I saw them, I had my back to  the  field, I was going to add a camera   to the new wheat plot  back there, It is coming in  great, but they  headed that way, so  I   came back home  instead of  bothering them, As  of  now  I still have opening  day off,  but  not  sure  I  will start the season off with  a morning hunt  , it is just  to hard getting out of the house  in the morning's without  bumping deer  off the plots, The  tempts will figure in  if  I even  sit  opening afternoon, We are headed in for  a cool down this weekend tho, So yes, both  Larry and  I will be hunting this weekend   cheers

I don't have much for acorns this year it doesn't look like. The farmer just finished with the fields behind my house so I planted some Green Patch Plus real quick last night to get something in for the deer. Still don't have any good bucks yet on the camera and we can't put corn out until after the season. Hopefully something will show up soon to get me excited about the season!

Our season starts Saturday but we have a hurricane coming in this weekend so we will just have to see. If we get what they are calling for then the golf course will be destroyed and we won't be able to hunt it for a few weeks. Will probably lose power for a week and have to cut our way out of the neighborhood. Have my fingers crossed this storm stays out to sea!
