When I saw the top picture I thought that it had to challenge the world record. Now that I have seen the second,  it is still an amazing buck but not what the first pic makes it look like. Always sucks when a huge whitetail goes out like that. I had a guy at work today show me a picture of another 200"+ hit by a car in Michigan.

Just hate to see that!  It proves big bucks start to make mistakes this time of year...why can't one of those 220-inchers' make a mistake by my stand sometime!
What's the roadkill pickup law in your state? Just wonder if the guy had any difficulty getting to keep it!

Oh my!!! I love Kansas!

I was thinking the same thing Boss when I saw that first pic! It's a shame that beast wasn't taken by a hunter.

What a monster! And what a giant! What are the rules on roadkill where everyone lives? Generally, we are not allowed to take anything unless you use your tag on it in season, and if its a big one the game wardens come and take it for their office....

Not sure on  Kansas  law's, but  all we have to do  is call  a CPO and  get  a  free salvage tag,

Here in NJ, you phone it in and you get a harvest # to keep the meat.  Not sure about keeping a trophy head though.

I hate seeing one like that go that way !!
Chad , this has been a topic I have talked about with many wardens the last few years !! In Pa. you can keep a roadkill , all you need to do is call your district office. But if its a buck they will ( or are supposed to ) come take the head . If you want to keep it , that will cost you $10 per point. Here is where my hot topic comes into play. In Pa. it is illegal to keep the head from a road kill buck without a permit , plus it is illegal to stop along a road and cut the antlers off a roadkill buck. But is it 100% legal to keep any sheds you find in the wild. So , just what is the difference in sheds compared to a roadkilled buck , the antlers are dead both ways.
