Cops and Doughnuts!
In many endeavors I work hard at trying to find an advantage that will aid me in being successful- bear hunting is no exception. In this instance I found doughnuts that no other bear hunters have access to, and the bears love 'em! (people do too, but this is about bear hunting!). Cops and Doughnuts, in Clare Michigan. This bakery has been in business since 1896 but was going to close because of the horrible economy we have in Michigan. The local police force purchased the bakery / donut shop to keep it from closing and the rest is history. The officers employ local high school students in the shop as well as other deserving young adults. The idea of cops owning a donut shop led to international publicity. I know, I shouldn't speak of my secret bear hunting weapon- but these guys did a good thing. Here's their website if you want to take a look:

Thanks for the tip Scott.....I have a secret weapon as well......try popcorn sprinkled with a bunch of orange cool aid powder, it drives the bears nuts up where I hunt

Tim, you should try Crunch n' Munch !! I know a guy that works at the plant, he would take all the extra , stuff that fell on the floor etc.., bag it up and take it home. He worked 2nd shift, so he would wait until morning to dump it. Then when it came time to quit ( 30 days before the season opener ) he would stop. Well the good old 700 pound plus bear caught wind of the smell, that just happened to be coming from his garage. When he came home one day his garage was trashed !!

I'll bet the bear are all over that stuff if you put it out. Very nice that you have access to it like that!

Sure do- I went to school in Coleman with a couple of them (one older, one younger) and I believe their mother was a school teacher! I can almost guarantee your friend has had donut's from there!

Thanks, man.
I'm starting to look forward to bear season already, but I've got a lot of fishing to do in between- hopefully.

Bridge, that is pretty neat story. My little bro is a deputy sherrif down in Madison County, IL.
When I was getting ready for my first bear hunt in 07, I asked him if he knew of any donut shops I could get start collecting old donuts. He was a little PO'd when I first asked for help on this.
