That is definately a big toad. It is interesting how it is such a different shape as the 43.6 pound WR rainbow caught here in SK last yr or the year before.

oops, I lied, the wr is 48 pounds, caught last yr, the 43.6 was the yr before. Same lake, different twin brother on the end of the rod.

Not to steal the thread, but what's the story with that lake those Rainbows were caught in? I've heard that the lake has some sort of "genetically enhanced" rainbows in it that got into the lake that supposedly grow at a more rapid rate then regular rainbows? Do you know anything about it?

They're considered "triploids" I believe, something to do with a chromosome. They're a rainbow but something in their genetics makes them sterile. They still spawn but like splake they do not actually reproduce. They got into the lake b?c a giant caged area of the lake that was used for growing them for retail got busted on spring by the ice.
I grew up on the shore of that lake and the yr it happened was absolutely tremendous rainbow fishing.
I know some people cried foul about them but they're recognized as offical wr rainbows. Anyway you slice it, they're big trout and those brothers have caught a ridiculous amount of 30 plus pounders the past few yrs.
