MN DNR rant...
{rant on}
Grrrr.... Are we the only state that is trying to manage our deer herd in such a manor that we keep the numbers so low that applying to shoot an antlerless deer is the goal??? I read a comment in the local outdoor news that went on to say that the goal of herd mgmt by the DNR is to be in a managed or lottery zone... here is the breakdown of our state by zones...
Intensive harvest = 5 tags (only one buck)
managed = 3 tags (only one buck)
Lottery = 1 deer -bucks only, lottery process to make your tag either sex
Youth only = 1 deer - bucks only, 18 yrs old or younger can apply to get make tag either sex
http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/fish_wildlife/wildlife/deer/map.pdf
Its so frustrating reading magazines, watching TV, and listening to others talk about managing buck to doe populations when I'm constantly in a state of praying to even see deer on stand (and I hunt in a very good location - if there are deer) I just don't get it
{rant off}
I hunt in 272 and 273. One deer only- bucks only with any weapon.. lottery to make it either sex (archery is automatically either sex). I shoot a doe with the bow on opening day... I'm done deer hunting for the year - all weapons in my zone.

Hey don't think your the only one with a pathitic DNR. I one time had the head elk biologist tell me he thinks that PA needs to outlaw feeding deer because to many deer come to the feeders and they can't tell the difference between a turd and a piece of corn. This is the same animals that can tell if an acorn is rotted or good by smell but don't know the difference between corn and a turd. What a moron. They also tell every one there tring to get more deer astablished in northern PA by cutting antlerless pemits but let the forestry
give away a bunch of extra tags (D-map) for areas they see fit. Its always the areas that have the least amount of deer. There all crooks in my opinion.

Crooks?... I take the line from Larry, Moe, and Curly.... "They're to dumb to be smart enough to act that dumb!"
Re: MN DNR rant...
We have had to apply for doe tags here for along time, as a matter of fact, there have'nt been doe tags available around my county for quite awhile. Do not follow Michigans example for how to manage the deer herd

The state of confusion, I meant Michigan is all screwed up as well. They give no permits where Tim is, But I live in the southern part and I can shoot up to 5 does. They dont want to listen to reason, only the MIGHTY dollar. Great job like always dnr

The only way we can shoot does here is to shoot them with a bow. Our tags are combo tags and cover Bow, Rifle, and Muzzle loader seasons. In bow season they are either sex tags, but for gun season they are bucks only tags. Strange licensing system
